Childmindr is a platform aimed at making the process of locating effective childcare a breeze. All the information required to locate a suitable place for your child has been made available at your fingertips. Childmindr is an online community of parents, childcare providers, nursery nurses, nannies, household helpers, nursery schools and private tutors. Parents can easily find local childcare providers and tutors using our fast simplistic search facility. Reviews of local childcare providers and tutors from other parents are displayed to guide our community in selecting the right childcarer and nursery.

The brief was to design and develop a more friendly online presence for "Childmindr", and to also create a platform that permitted fluid engagement between the parents and childcarers while at the same time reflecting the values and vision of the childcare provider platform.

Digitizing individual daycare processes with a rating system & focusing on the people and their values. Providing reviews of local childcare providers and tutors from other parents to guide the community in selecting the right childcarer and nursery.

Final design ready for development

Display of the product's designs. After presenting the design explorations, this was now transformed to code to bring the designs to live in order for the client to understand and visualise the design intent in an interactive manner. The aim was to create a clear and frictionless journey, and in doing so to improve brand perception while maintaining and supporting an increase in conversion & traffic.

Project summary

Childminr's goal was to change the way online childcarer platforms provide visibility, of highly good rated carers, to parents. With Full Transparency, parents are able to locate childcare centres and childminders. Ultimately, A design system based on the registration, search process, rating system was created to ensure consistent experiences across different platforms (mobileApp and webApp).

Be open to research and let ideas go

‍I thought too digitally and approached the product with too concrete ideas about the result, thus failing to correctly take into account some needs and challenges of the target group and thus unfavorably defined the minimum viable product.

Big challenges require small steps

Take small steps, because big changes can not be brought overnight, especially not just by an application alone. Accordingly, develop more strategically meaningful and realistically applicable tools that steer in the intended direction.

More substantive visual design

‍In the meantime, in as much as no visual language has yet been defined, I would define brand attributes in advance, which can be used to orient oneself with regard to the visual appearance as well as (linguistic) formulations.
