Open Heavens is a community church, passionate about the gospel of Jesus Christ and committed to developing and empowering individuals to turn their potentials into performance; their dreams into fulfilment; and to be effective in addressing human need with their gifts and talents. They seek to promote fruitful networking relationships with other Christians for the advancement of the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ among all peoples.
Digital technology plays a key role in the church and due to the pandemic OHCC wanted to create and enhance their online presence. The brief for the project was to create a digital online platform with the focus of having a forum for discussion to enable engagement amongst members and a member’s registration section to maintain and increase members. Developing a platform that enable our client to host small digital groups and meetings, and implement an online giving.

problem statement & solution
How might we improve the UX/UI experience and process for the business & users.
  • problem #1
    Not having an online presence

Due to the pandemic, where church services were no longer held in-person, OHCC began to notice a decrease in it's members. The decreases in it's members was due to the lack of a digital online presence. The reality was that operating digitally was very necessary to maintain their congregation and create a greater audience.

  • solution #1
Maintaining members via an informative site, registration and forum section

Creating an informative website with a simple registration page & forum to reach a greater audience than before and to enable engagement amongst members. Developing a platform that enable our client to host small digital group and meetings, and implement an online giving.

Final design ready for development
Display of the product's designs. After presenting the design explorations, this was now transformed to code to bring the designs to live in order for the client to understand and visualise the design intent in an interactive manner. The aim was to create a clear and frictionless journey, and in doing so to improve brand perception while maintaining and supporting an increase in conversion & traffic.
conclusion
Project summary

There are many benefits of an online digital church platform with a live streaming services. Churches can embrace online technology and use it to spread their ministry, reach a greater audience and maintain their congregation. This allowed our client not to be any longer bound by any physical or geographic limitations to grow their congregation and to be able to engage with their members by hosting small digital groups and meetings and receive offerings and donation online.

    Host Online Community
Online community platform such as forums have transformed – it’s now (more than ever) an integral part of our day-to-day lives and a key channel for engagement, news, openness, transparency, collaboration and connection. This transformation has led to exciting opportunities for churches to connect with their audiences and expand their online presence.
  • challenge #0
    Restricted budget
Due to a restricted budget we were only able to effectively help our client increase and maintain it's members via a registration page and a forum. Given more funding a 'Live streaming church services' could have been implemented into the platform to reach a greater audience.
  • challenge #0
    Bypass Space Limitations
Due to the pandemic, In-person church services were limited by the physical restrictions of a particular space. An online platform made the space bigger by allowing hundreds of people to virtually attend the service.
